The Electrical Engineering Podcast "Current Affairs": Episode 12 - What does equality mean?

 |  EI-Nachrichten

In the twelfth episode of the Electrical Engineering podcast "Current Affairs", Dr Annika Hegemann talks to our host, Olga Friesen, about the office of the Central Equal Opportunities Officer and what equality actually means.

Dr Annika Hegemann was elected Central Equal Opportunities Officer at Paderborn University in 2023. As such, she is involved in all personnel decisions at the university and is tasked with ensuring greater diversity and equality. "When we talk about equality, it's about people having equal opportunities." "When we talk about equality [however], we really mean the legal side," says Dr Annika Hegemann, differentiating between the two terms. However, Ms Hegemann is also the point of contact for all possible cases of inequality, a lack of diversity, sexist remarks and even sexual assault. "[In any case] don't keep quiet." She recommends.
Dr Annika Hegemann's goal as Central Equal Opportunities Officer is that in future there will no longer be a need for her office, but first of all that everyone becomes more aware of the issue of equality.
