Master program Optoelectronics&Photonics
According to current planning, a new master's program "Optoelectronics & Photonics" will be offered at the University of Paderborn starting in the winter semester 2017/2018.
This English-language degree program will be run jointly by electrical engineering and physics and contains an exciting combination of many optoelectronics topics:
Details and advising services can be found on the degree program in Optoelectronics and Photonics website.
Information for students of the Paderborn Bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering
On the initiative of the electrical engineering student council, it should also be possible for students to study this new master's degree program. Since the program also includes some compulsory and elective courses that require more in-depth knowledge of physics, there are prerequisites/requirements for students with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in the following subjects
• "Theoretical quantum mechanics" and
• "Applied optics" (from WS 2017/2018 "modern optics").
This means students in the Bachelor's major must take two elective catalogues and the two courses mentioned above to have the prerequisite for the Master's in Optoelectronics & Photonics.
The following graphic shows the study plan for the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with optoelectronic parts, a detailed description and explanation of individual subjects, modules and electives can be found in the examination regulations:
