Information on changing your examination regulation
The Industrial Engineering degree programme was reaccredited on 1 October, 2025, for both Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Accordingly, there are the new examination regulations versions WingET BA v5 and WingET MA v4, each of which has changes compared to their predecessor versions. If you are interested in switching to the new version of the examination regulations, you can contact the Electrical Engineering Student Advisory Service at any time.
As with all other degree programs, there are various differences and special features to consider in the Bachelor's and Master's programs in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering. Keeping track of these can help you successfully complete your studies! It is therefore worthwhile to always have the following information at hand.
Bachelor Industrial Engineering ET
Although this study plan is not a mandatory requirement, it can certainly serve as a valuable guide. While it generally makes sense to take the respective courses in the specified order, what happens if things don't go according to plan?
In this case in particular, it can help to always have an overview chart for all required courses to hand. And if you don't lose sight of this plan and also equip yourself with the knowledge from your module handbook, you will be well prepared for every semester!
In the advanced studies program, you can choose specializations based on your own interests and preferences. In the bachelor's program in industrial engineering with a focus on electrical engineering, we offer the following specializations in the technical field:
- Signal and information transmission
- Analysis and design of electronic circuits
- Control engineering
- Information technology
- Nano- and microsystems technology
- Energy and automation technology
In addition, you can also choose from a wide range of options in the field of economics and business informatics.
Are you planning to start your bachelor's thesis soon, but don't know yet which subject area or topic would be suitable for you? By the way, you can write your bachelor's thesis in either Electrical Engineering or Economics!
This overview will help you find a topic for your thesis or possible projects in the field of Electrical Engineering. Similarly, you can find the fields of study and professorships in Economics here. You can also learn more about the individual subject areas on their respective pages and keep up to date with the latest news.
All requirements and details can also be found in your Examination regulations.
Master Industrial Engineering ET
You are not bound by the structure of the study plan in the Master's degree programme in Industrial Engineering either, but it can still serve as a good guide for your studies. Here, however, you not only have to deal with the compulsory elective modules, but also with the specialisations you would like to pursue in your degree programme. The department pages and the current module handbook can help you with this.
As you know, you have to choose specialisations for your Master's degree in Industrial Engineering. Have you not yet decided on a specialisation, or can't make up your mind? You have the choice between these specialisations. You have to decide on three of them:
- Energy and Environment
- Cognitive systems
- Communication Technology
- Microelectronics
- Optoelectronics
- Process dynamics
You can find out which courses are taking place in the respective specialisation areas in the current semester directly in the PAUL, where you can register during the registration period. Additional information, such as course instructors, language of instruction, schedules, and locations, is also available there.
Are you wondering which project you could work on, or would you like to write a thesis soon? On this overview page of the various subject areas, you can see which Electrical Engineering projects are currently advertised and which topics are currently available for your master's thesis. Similarly, you can find the fields of study and professorships in Economics here. You can also learn more about the individual subject areas on their respective pages and keep up to date with the latest news.
In exceptional cases, projects can also be written as a substitute for the term paper upon request. It should be noted that a project is worth 9 LP, and the term paper is worth 12 LP.
All requirements and details can also be found in your Examination regulations.
During your master's program, you must complete an industrial internship. The industrial internship lasts 12 weeks. The module is worth 12 credit points and is completed by submitting a qualified internship report. The module must be completed before registering for the master's thesis and can also be completed abroad.
The technical internship is intended to provide practical experience in the manufacture of products and the operation of electrical engineering systems on the one hand, and experience in the tasks and areas of activity of electrical engineers on the other. Internships may also be completed in the areas of purchasing/procurement, accounting, organization, and information technology, as well as human resources, in technical wholesale and service companies such as banks or insurance companies.
Further details on practical work experience are set out in the internship regulations. There you will also find further overviews of exceptions and additional regulations, as well as information on internship certificates and work reports. The current contacts and helpful links to internship exchanges and job offers can be found on the page on the Internship Office website.
