The Electrical Engineering Podcast "Current Affairs": Episode 23 - Bachelor's thesis, the end or the beginning?

 |  EI-Nachrichten

In the 23rd episode of the Electrical Engineering podcast "Current Affairs", Dr Markus Hennig talks to our host, Olga Friesen, about the question of whether the Bachelor's thesis is the end or just the beginning of the degree programme.

The bachelor's thesis is the written final project of the bachelor's degree programme and can therefore be seen as a kind of end. However, the end does not necessarily refer to the entire degree programme. Rather, it is the end of a section, says Dr Markus Hennig, who was at this point himself as a student and now accompanies students. Students who follow their bachelor's thesis with a master's programme are immersed in a new way of studying. Dr Markus Hennig sees a major change in students in terms of their self-confidence and their way of working academically. In many study programmes, the bachelor's thesis is the first piece of academic work, which represents a completely new challenge and usually requires an unfamiliar type of research and approach. Afterwards, Dr Markus Hennig goes on to explain, you can assess much better what working scientifically really means and deal with subject-related problems much more skilfully.

In response to the initial question about the beginning or end of the degree programme, Dr. Markus Hennig replies that the bachelor's thesis is a fork in the road that definitely takes you further and paves the way for many different paths in life.
