Pader­born Uni­ver­sity suc­cess­ful across dis­cip­lines in "THE World Uni­ver­sity Sub­ject Rank­ing 2025"

Paderborn University is once again represented in the subject rankings of the World University Rankings of the British higher education magazine "Times Higher Education" (THE) and has once again achieved very good results in several disciplines in the 2026 edition. The university achieved above-average international rankings in the categories of computer science, engineering, economics, education and natural sciences, as well as in the humanities and cultural studies. The ranking, which takes into account more than 2,000 universities from 115 countries and territories, is one of the most renowned international university rankings. 

Very good results in "Computer Science" and "Engineering"

In the subject areas "Computer Science" and "Engineering", Paderborn University is internationally ranked in the 251-300 and 301-400 groups respectively. Paderborn University's Education Studies are again successful in international comparison and are also ranked in the 301-400 group. Like the humanities and cultural sciences, Paderborn's economic sciences are in the 501-600 ranking group worldwide, while the achievements of Paderborn's natural sciences are again recognised with an international ranking in the field of 601-800.

"The repeated very good placement of our subject areas in the Times Higher Education international ranking is an impressive sign of the academic quality and increasing global visibility of Paderborn University. It is particularly pleasing that we were able to achieve above-average results in so many different disciplines," says Prof Dr Heike Trautmann, Vice President for International Relations. "The rankings confirm that the interdisciplinary orientation and close integration of research, teaching and practice contribute significantly to Paderborn University's global visibility and competitiveness. We take this as motivation to continue pursuing our strategic goals in the future," adds Prof Dr Thomas Tröster, Vice President for Research and Academic Career Paths.
