Culture Fellow

Difficulties getting started? Disoriented? Perhaps you've asked yourself one of these questions at some point during the semester:

  • "How do I actually study properly for this examination?"
  • "Why do I understand the assignment completely differently to what the lecturer meant?"
  • "I'm confused about the tone or the way the subject is taught, am I in the wrong place?"

That's exactly what I'm here for. These questions have nothing to do with your abilities, but with the subject culture.

What does a Culture Fellow do?

My position was created by the university to support you. I support you in two key areas:

1. every study programme has its own peculiarities and unwritten laws (we call this subject culture). I will help you with this:

  • Understand the expectations of the lecturers.
  • Find learning strategies that work specifically for e-technology.

2. if expectations are unclear or there are structural problems in teaching:

  • Gather your feedback.
  • Identify the stumbling blocks together with you.
  • I seek dialogue with the teaching staff to develop solutions

Why talk about "culture"?

Exchange helps with learning. Difficulties often arise not from the material itself, but from different ways of working and expectations. If we talk about what irritates you or why a task is set in a "strange" way, we can untangle these knots. You will learn to understand the subject and its way of thinking better, which will make it easier for you to pass your examinations in the end.
