Supervision concept for final theses

The Department of Didactics of Technology considers the supervision of final theses to be an important part of its teaching tasks. The supervision of students is characterised by an appropriate structure with regular meetings, transparency of assessment criteria and clear documentation.

The department assigns topics for student research projects, project theses, Bachelor's and Master's theses that are particularly suitable for students of Electrical Engineering and the Teacher Training Programme for Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

These are our standards:

  • Research advisor
  • Not a tutor for any existing deficits, but referral to support services (WAI, Writing Competence Centre, library, FiPS, tutorials, etc.) if necessary.
  • Our expectations of the students:
  • Curiosity, motivation, ambition, interest in knowledge
  • Independence, initiative
  • Diligence, realisation of agreements
  • Ability to reflect, communication
  • Sufficient time capacity, good time management, adherence to deadlines
  • Time required (per Master's thesis):
  • Student: approx. 450 h (15 CP) to approx. 900 h (30 CP)
  • Supervisor: approx. 30-35 h, of which approx. 10 h contact time
