Thilo von Neumann, research staff member of the Department of Communications Engineering since summer 2020, has been awarded the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics prize for the best degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering. The award is given annually to the top student in a cohort. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!
Thilo began his studies in Computer Engineering in 2014, graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2017 and a Master's degree in 2020. In his studies he specialized in signal processing (Signal, Speech and Image Processing), and he did part of his master thesis during an internship at NTT Communications Science Labs in Kyoto, Japan. The thesis is concerned with speech recognition with multiple simultaneously active speakers. This work resulted in two publications that were presented at international conferences.
