Last week, a delegation from Paderborn University attended the IEEE Power and Energy Student Summit (PESS) conference in Bielefeld. During the three exciting and informative days, topics related to future energy systems were presented by young researchers and industry experts. A special honor was awarded to Marvin Meyer from our department for the best written paper entitled “ElectricGrid.jl -- Automated Modeling of Decentralized Electrical Energy Grids”. In the paper a Julia-based modeling and simulation tool ElectricGrid.jl (https://github.com/upb-lea/ElectricGrid.jl) is presented which can be utilized to simulate inverter-based energy grids to develop new control techniques such as data-driven control approaches - for example reinforcement learning. Furthermore, it shows the need for a flexible and scalable simulation tool in this area, explains how to create dynamic models and presents results that underline the benefits of the developed toolbox. We congratulate Marvin Meyer and the team behind the project on this great success!
