Research

The development of modern optoelectronic devices relies on the tight interplay of multiple research disciplines, including the design and epitaxial growth of semiconductor materials, micro‑ and nanofabrication, advanced device simulation and comprehensive optical and electrical characterization.

Within the SOD group, our current research focuses on semiconductor spectroscopy and optical device analysis. We explore emerging materials and heterostructures, conceive and implement innovative device architectures, and develop advanced simulation,  characterization and imaging techniques aimed at improving both the fundamental understanding and technological capabilities of optoelectronic systems.

Current research topics of our group include:

  • Ultrafast spin and polarization dynamics in semiconductor lasers

  • Electrical spin injection in spin LEDs and spin lasers

  • Anisotropic and coupled microcavity lasers

  • High-resolution and spectroscopic microscopy systems

  • Quantitative phase imaging and holography
