Dr. Mariusz Drong joined the Semiconductor Optoelectronic Devices group in April 2026. He received a Ph.D. in Physics from Institut Polytechnique de Paris and a Ph.D. in Nanotechnology from the Technical University of Ostrava for his work on laser theory, with a focus on spin lasing, in 2023.
Between 2024 and 2026, Mariusz was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, working on photonic crystals and photonic crystal lasers with Dirac dispersion. His research interests lie at the intersection of semiconductor lasers, photonic crystals, and non-Hermitian phenomena, focusing on ultrafast polarization dynamics.
