Brief description

Introduction to the Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering as a basis for further courses.

Contents

  • Introduction (engineering science electrical engineering, system of units, base units, equation between quantities)
  • Electric charges and fields (introduction of physical quantities (electr. charge, electr. force, electr. field strength, electr. work, electr. voltage, electr. potential), concept of field)
  • Electrostatics (basic fields, line/surface/spatial charges, electrostatic induction, dipoles, matter in the electr. field, capacity/capacitor)
  • Electric circuit (moving electric charges, Kirchhoff's Laws, linear & nonlinear two terminal networks, sources, consumer load, resistance/resistor, basic circuits, energy, power)
  • Theory of DC-networks (equivalent sources, principle of superposition, node and mesh analysis)
  • Magnetostatics (magn. effect of electr. current, magn. field strength, magn. flux density, magnetic flux law, Lorentz force, matter in the magn. field, inductivity/inductor)
  • Electrodynamics (self-induction, law of induction, Lenz's Rule, magn. coupling of electric circuits, mutual induction, inductance in the iron circle, magn. energy)
