Welcome to the Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering (TET)

Research

Our research focuses on the theoretical description, simulation and optimal design of photonic and optoelectronic systems, the further development and combination of simulation methods for electrodynamics with non-linear and complex material models and state-of-the-art optimisation methods.

Teaching

The department offers several courses in the field of theoretical foundations of Electrical Engineering and numerical simulation. Advanced courses provide an insight into electromagnetic field simulation and photonic systems.

The team

We are a mixed international team of researchers with a passion for various aspects of Electrical Engineering, Optoelectronics, Photonics and related research fields.

„With the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS), the Center for Optoelectronics and Photonics Paderborn (CeOPP), the Paderborn Centre for Parallel Computing (PC2) and many research groups in the field of optoelectronics and photonics, Paderborn offers an excellent research environment.”

Jens Förstner,
Leiter des Fachgebiets

„We offer a wide variety of courses for students, ranging from the theoretical foundations of electromagnetism and numerics to research-related advanced courses on field simulation and photonics.”

Prof. Dr. Jens Förstner,
Leiter des Fachgebiets
