Visit of the Nobel Laureate

Prof. Dr. Klaus von Klitzing, Nobelpreisträger in Physik (1985), Entdecker des Quanten-Hall-Effekts und Namensgeber der Von-Klitzing-Konstante, hat an der Universität Paderborn am 14.11.2007 einen vielbeachteten, inspirierenden Vortrag gehalten. Bei dieser Gelegenheit hat er unser Labor besucht und hat sich eine schnelle endlose elektrooptische Polarisationsregelung und synchrone optische QPSK-Echtzeitdatenübertragung mit Polarisationsmultiplex vorführen lassen.

In the unit on the left, there is an element with polarisation-dependent loss between rotating wave plates. The resulting polarisation changes are electronically controlled in a coherent QPSK polarisation diversity receiver. From left to right: Prof. Noé, Prof. von Klitzing, Prof. Zrenner, Mr Pfau.
