Award for the First German MS ESE Graduate

Raphael Hermelingmeier was awarded the energy prize by the regional energy service Westfalen Weser Energy.

For the 15th time this prize was awarded for outstanding acquisition and project work in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

In May last year Raphael Hermelingmeier attained at Paderborn University his master's degree as the first German graduate of the international master's program Electric Systems Engineering (ESE). The Energy Award he received for his master's thesis "Optimal design of an LLC resonant converter-type used as a single-stage battery charger", in which he dealt with the optimal design of a charging rectifier for electric cars.

With his deliberations, the charging circuits for electrically driven cars are to become more durable, smaller and more compact, he scored new outstanding results for energy efficiency in electric mobility.

During his time at the University of Paderborn as a student assistant, Raphael Hermelingmeier worked for a year in the Section power electronics and electric drive technology. Previously, he spent for a semester abroad in China, after completing his Bachelor's degree at the University of Applied Sciences South Westphalia in Soest.
